Season Track

Every 60 days, the season closes and a new one begins. While your empire persists - buildings, research, ships, score - the season track is a parallel arc running alongside everything else. Play the game, earn Season XP, reach milestones, choose your rewards. The season ends whether you finish it or not; the question is how much of it you captured.

Season XP Sources

Seven actions award Season XP. The amounts are fixed base values - XP is applied at the moment the action completes.

Policy Bonus

The Civic Pride civic policy applies a season_xp multiplier to every XP award while active. This is the only in-game modifier that affects Season XP. Activate it before high-value actions (founding a colony or completing a daily streak) to maximize the bonus.

Milestones

There are 20 milestones per season. Each milestone has a cumulative XP requirement. The moment your total Season XP for the active season crosses a threshold, that milestone becomes claimable and you receive a season_milestone_unlocked notification.

When you claim a milestone you pick exactly one of three choices. Each choice index (0, 1, or 2) maps to a fixed reward for that milestone. The choice is permanent - it cannot be changed after submission.

Milestone 10 is the first to offer Instant Research. From milestone 12 onward, Instant Research appears as a choice in every milestone.

Season Reset vs. Persistent Progress

When a season ends:

  • Resets - Season XP and milestone progress. The new season starts at 0 XP with all 20 milestones available again. Unclaimed milestones from the previous season that were already unlocked can no longer be claimed once the season closes.
  • Persists - Your empire: buildings, ships, research, planets, score, Victory Points, commander archetype, and specialization tree all carry over. Cosmetic badges earned at milestones 18–20 are permanently attached to your account and are never removed.

Seasons are a parallel progression layer on top of the normal game. Falling behind on season milestones does not set you back in core gameplay - it only means fewer bonus resources and research boosts.

Season Leaderboard

The top 10 players by total Season XP for the active season are tracked on the season leaderboard. This ranking is separate from the main gameplay leaderboard - it reflects engagement with the season system rather than empire power.

Tips for Earning Season XP Quickly

  • Found colonies early. At 100 XP per colony, colonizing a new planet is the single highest-value action.
  • Maintain your daily streak. A completed streak awards 60 XP - over 60 days that is 3,600 XP, equivalent to six full colonies.
  • Win combat. Each combat victory grants 50 XP regardless of fleet size.
  • Contribute to Galactic Crises. At 40 XP per contribution, these shared events are worth prioritizing when active.
  • Keep research running. Even 30 XP per completion adds up across four parallel branches.
  • Activate Civic Pride before high-value actions to multiply the base XP award.
